A new on-line system has been launched to deal with personal injury claims arising from road traffic accidents which occur after 30th April 2010. Whilst there are exceptions, most claims with a value of less than £10,000 will be dealt with under the scheme.
Details of the claim are submitted electronically to the insurers of the other car involved via a new Portal. The insurers have only 15 working days to admit liability ~ a deadline which many claimant lawyers fear they will not be able to meet! The new RTA claims process is very streamlined and it is hoped that it will lead to quicker settlement of claims. However there are concerns that the limited costs which Solicitors will be able to recover could lead to some Solicitors firms giving this type of work to less qualified members of staff.
